Frequently Asked Pre-Semester Questions

Nutrition 12 (Dr. Bacon)

If you are wondering whether you can get into the class, here's the scoop: Nutrition 12 always fills up quickly, so be sure to register as soon as you can.  Past experience shows that many students want to add the class and are frustrated and/or angry that they weren’t able to register.  Please understand that I am on your side and share these feelings.  As much as I would like to accommodate everyone, however, I can't.  The course has limited enrollment and after each section fills up, I can only add students to replace students who drop the course.  If you can't pre-register, you are welcome to come to a class to see if there is space. If there are any openings, I will add students in order of their registration date.  You will need to have attended all classes in order to add (as verified by the attendance list that is passed around in each class) , and you will also need to show proof of your registration date. I will drop any students that miss both of the first two classes, unless they contact me in advance.

If you want to get a jumpstart on reading, check out the textbook, Eat Well... For your Self, For the World, written by the instructor.  You can find copies of it on reserve in the Rosenberg Library and in Statler Library. It is sold in the CCSF bookstore and on the internet through this link: http://www:/lulupress.com/LindaBacon - just double-click on the book to order.  Eat Well is a work in progress that is updated every semester. The Nutrition 12 homepage will tell you how to ensure that you are getting the most recent update, and whether used copies from previous semesters will be adequate.

If you are registered but need to miss initial classes, know that I automatically drop any students who don't attend at least one of the first two classes. There is such high demand for the course that this policy is necessary in order to make room for the students who do attend.  If you know you are going to miss the first two classes, be sure to contact me in advance so that I know to save your space and can let you know how to prepare.

Thanks - and I'll look forward to seeing you next semester.
