Teaching Schedule

LIS 10: Use of Information Resources
Covers methods of inquiry, research process and the variety of information research tools available. Effective and efficient search techniques are covered for online catalogs, online periodical databases, search engines and more, as well as how to evaluate and correctly cite information resources for projects and papers to avoid plagiarism.

Fall 2013
When: 8/19/13 - 10/27/13 | Room: ONLINE | CRN: 71415 | Units: 1 unit

Mandatory orientation on Monday, August 19 from 10:10-11:00am OR Tuesday, August 20 from 1:10-2:00pm in Rosenberg Library R414.

If you cannot make it to the in-person orientation or are confident that you can access the virtual session, you will be allowed to attend the ONLINE orientation. The online orientation date and time will be scheduled for Monday or Tuesday evening during the week of 8/19. Time will be posted in July or early August. The online orientation is not recommended for students having trouble accessing Insight. The orientation takes place within Insight. I will not be able to offer technical support during the session as it it is disruptive to the orientation. You must be able to follow along during the orientation using phone and internet access.

At the beginning of the semester, I will be sending out a form asking which orientation you intend to attend.

Summer 2013
When: 6/10/13 - 7/21/13 | Room: ONLINE | CRN: 50970 | Units: 1 unit

Mandatory orientation on Monday, June 10 from 12:30-1:15pm OR Tuesday, June 11 from 2:00-2:45pm in Rosenberg Library R414.

If you cannot make it to the in-person orientation or are confident that you can access the virtual session, you will be allowed to attend the ONLINE orientation. The virtual orientation will take place Monday, June 10 from 7-7:45pm. I suggest that you test your computer before the session (instructions will be available before the session) to ensure that your computer is able to enter the orientation.
