Objectives:
·
To development and
better understanding classical guitar technique and musicianship.
·
To review the
notes of first position and learn the notes of the upper positions.
·
To facilitate
playing notes in multi-voiced textures.
·
To learn extended
chords, major 7th, minor 7th, 9th and bar
chords.
·
To develop a
greater ability to sight read.
·
To participate in
and partake in the performance of solo and ensemble repertoire.
·
To experience and
gain mastery in the performance for others.
Prerequisites:
·
Students must
complete Music 6A, (Elementary Classical
Guitar), or have attained through practice or experience its equivalent.
Consent instructor if necessary.
·
Students must
have an adequate knowledge of all the notes in the first position or be able to
locate the notes of the first position easily.
·
Students must
possess an acoustic guitar, preferably a nylon string classical guitar.
Requirements:
Attendance-Because
the class meets only once a week, regular attendance is essential. If you form
an ensemble during the guitar workshop hour, an effective ensemble experience
is created when you maintain continuity in attendance and participation.
Performance
requirement- During the semester there will be four individual performance
evaluations plus a final performance. You will be responsible for those by
playing either for me or for the class.
Homework-You
are expected to keep up with all exercises and be working on a piece or group
of pieces throughout the semester. Your
practice time should be at least thirty minutes a day. If you participate in an
ensemble, the practice requirements are additional.

Workshop - Music 11 During the second hour (
Grading-Grades
will be based on effort, progress, attendance and participation. Because of the various levels of development
students enter the course with, how much progress each person accomplishes and
how much work is demonstrated will be the biggest factor in grading.
