5) To upload:  On page 186, create xxxx_aftertree.txt. On page 218 step 6, create xxxx_backuptree.txt of your backup diskette or USB drive using /F/A switches. Submit both files.

Mar-2 Mar-9 Managing 
commands using absolute and relative paths
1) Read the Week 7 Tasks and Course Content book. Do everything on the task list.
2) Graded Forum Assignment: Using the Week 7 Graded Forum, post a message with a demonstration of a command using absolute and relative paths. You should have a task in mind, and show how to achieve the results once with an absolute path, and once with a relative path.
3) You must also reply to at least 2 other student's posts in the graded forum, try their commands, and post back with comments on whether it worked, and perhaps give an alternative command that would achieve the same or similar results.

Mar-9  Mar-16 Midterm Exam (must be submitted by 11:55pm on the due date) 1) Read the Week 8 Tasks. Do everything on the task list.
2) Midterm Exam: All tests are open book, but timed, so you do not have time to look up all the answers. Covers Tutorials 1 through 5.
3) Make sure you've completed all homework assignments and taken all quizzes.

Mar-16 Mar-23 Tutorial 6: Using Troubleshooting Tools, Sessions 6.1 and 6.2 only. 1) Read the Week 9 Tasks and Course Content book. Do everything on the task list.
2) DO/READ Tutorial 6, Sessions 6.1 and 6.2 only. Important Note:  XP users pay particular attention to XP Appendix, as there are different troubleshooting tools in Windows XP.
3) To upload: Answers to Case 3.

Mar-30 Apr-6 Recovery Console: Sessions 6.3 and 7.3 1) Read the Week 10 Tasks and Course Content book. Do everything on the task list.
2) DO/READ Tutorial 6, Session 6.3, and Tutorial 7, Session 7.3.
3) Take the tutorial 6 practice quiz.
4) Take the tutorial 6 quiz (up to 3 times, highest score counts towards grade)
5)  Download the Recovery Console Lab or Recovery Console Research Instructions. The lab requires a bootable Windows XP installation CD. Follow the instructions on this sheet as you do Sessions 6.3 and 7.3. If you do not have access to Windows XP and an installation CD, do the research assignment instead. 
6) To upload: answers to the Recovery Console Lab or Recovery Console Research Assignment.

5) Upload ONE text file containing all the batch files you create in Session 8.3. On page 400, redirect the output of the tree/f command to a file called xxxxOutput.txt. On page 404, append the output of the Emptitles command in step 1 to the xxxxOutput.txt file.

May-4 May-11 Group Batch programming Project 1) Read the Week 15 Tasks and Course Content book. Do everything on the task list.
2) Group Project: Tutorial 8, group assigned Case study. You will all be assigned to a group, and work on a batch program for one of the Tutorial 8 Cases. Requires minimum of 5 posts to your group's graded forum, and the solution to your case will also be posted to the class in the solutions forum.

May-18 May-25 Final Exam.  Note Final Exam must be submitted by Friday May 25. 1) Read the Week 17 Tasks
2) Study for final exam.
3) Make sure all homework assignments are turned in and graded.
4) Final Exam Covers Tutorials 6 through 10 only. Must be submitted by 11:55pm, Friday May 25.
5) Final Exam must be taken between the available dates.  Remember, exams are open book but are timed.
