Computer
Access
To take an online class you need access to a computer with Internet connection, and Windows 2000 or Windows XP (professional or home edition). Make a plan for emergencies, such as if your computer is broken or Internet connection is down.  Public libraries, campus labs, a friend's computer - think about what you'd do.
Class Participation You will be expected to participate in all the class assignments, including reading messages in the forums on a weekly basis, reading all the online content books, and responding to or creating forum postings. Your participation will be a factor in your final grade.  I expect each student to start a thread or reply to another student's post in substantial fashion at least 3 times a month.  Plan to log in to the class several times a week.
Homework Assignments Homework assignments will be given most weeks of the semester.  Keep track of what's assigned in the schedule or the week's task list. Each assignment will have a specific deadline you must meet. You will receive a grade for each homework assignment within one week.  Homework could include a file to upload, a graded forum, or a group project.
Late Homework Homework will be accepted up to one week late, but with a 10% reduction in points, and must be submitted via Insight email. I will allow only two late homework assignments from each student.  Talk to me if you are having a problem with the schedule!
Midterm and Final Exams Exams will be given within an 8-day period, and are timed.  You must take the exam during the stated time frame.  Check the schedule for dates that exams are available, and then visit the week's section in Insight to take it.  The test results will be available to you immediately.  Exams may not be taken late.
