Looks like a perfectly normal Pectoral Sandpiper to me. I see tens of thousands of these guys every year, and this bird is well within the range of variation in my opinion. Now having experience with STSA, I feel I can say with some certainty that this is not a Sharp-tail.
I thought about House Wren for the first October quiz bird. But the underparts seem way too white/gray. I have no idea now.
