Hi birders,

I read with curiosity the comments here about primary projection ruling out the peeps. I do have a question/comment about this.

In my opinion, the White-Rumped Sandpiper, and especially the Baird's, have a long primary projection, which I would argue appears as long as the Pectoral's, when compared relatively to the size of the bird. I would be interested in learning a resource that cites this as a field mark, and if none exists, I would be very interested in hearing comments from those who feel otherwise. I do have some pictures that I would be willing to scan to anyone who wonders where on earth I am getting these questions about this "field mark." This topic has made me very curious.

I agree that this mystery bird definitely is not one of the peeps, but for much bigger reasons than primary projection.

Donna
