I have changed the plans – I used ¾ inch finished lumber since I couldn’t reasonably find unfinished 1 inch lumber. The sides are now 8 X 5½. The front and back are now 5½ X 8½ + 2¾ to the peak, for a total size of 5½ X 11¼. The roof pieces are now 8 X 11¼ and 7¼ X 11¼. The floor is installed recessed by ¼ inch. I scored the outside and inside of the entrance hole walls to improve the bird’s griping surface. The hole is placed closer to the top than shown here. The compression connector fits so tight in the 1 ¼ inch hole that it must be screwed into the wood – glue may not be required. “EMT” is electrical conduit. It and the connector cost less than $5 at Lowes/Home Depot.
