Essay 2

Objective:  The purpose of this assignment is to practice developing a positon in an ongoing debate or argument.  Your thesis should state clearly what you believe about the topic below.  Your essay should be 1000 words or more.  Each body paragraph should include a topic sentence that offers a reason for that belief and evidence to support that reason.  You may use any readings from our class (direct quotes, indirect paraphrase and/or summary) as well as your own observations as evidence to support your ideas.

Task: Write a clear, well-supported essay of 41/2-5 pages

Michael Pollan in “Power Steer” makes a claim that “we are what what we eat eats too,” and discusses the harmful effects of corn. Explain why you think his argument is effective using an analysis of ethos, pathos and logos, and also supporting evidence from the other readings provided.
