TEXT BOOKS

There will be a reading assignment in the textbook for each class.

QUIZ

At the beginning of each class a multiple-choice quiz will be given on the reading assignment for the class.

PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS

One "Personal Observation" is due at the Start of each class, on a form that will be provided.  Each observation must be on a topic from the READING assignment that was due for the class OR from the information discussed in the previous class.

MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTION

One "Multiple-choice Question" is due at the Start of each class, on a form that will be provided. Each question must be from the READING assignment that was due for the class.

ATTENDANCE

It is very important that you attend class.  Please make every effort to attend and be on time. More than THREE (3) ``unexcused" absences may (and probably will) result in a failing grade.

GRADES             Based on a 100 point scale:

          Quizzes                                    14 points
          Personal Observations          14 points
          Multiple-choice Question       14 points
          Mid-term Exam                       10 points
          Glossary Exam                         5 points
          Final Exam                              15 points
          Business Plan                         25 points
          Special Projects                       3 points
          Extra Credit                             as earned

               Grading Scale:

              90-100     = A
              80-89      =  B
              70-79      =  C
              60-69      =  D
              Below 60 =  F

Please note that final grades are determined using a ``curve."

EXTRA CREDIT

You may earn 1 extra credit point each time that you do a CLASS presentation.  This is not required. Should you choose to do this, you must let the professor know at the beginning of the class that you want to do this.  Only one extra presentation per day is allowed and preference is given to those who have not done an extra credit previously. There may be a limit established for the number of extra credit presentations given by a student.

You may bring in and discuss an article following the observation format (issue with three major points), and illustration of a topic, idea, concept or theory which has been presented in class, or something that is illustrative and helpful to other students.

If you discuss an article, please make a photocopy so that it may be posted on the International bulletin board.

CLASS GRADE BOOK

The professor will have a Grade Book available during the class break.  This book will contain the latest calculation of your grade points.   Please check the book so that you will receive proper credit.

INDIVIDUAL TRACKING OF GRADES

You will know where you stand with regard to your grade as you accumulate points.  It is recommended that you keep track of your points.

E-MAIL

E-mail is the most effective way to send messages to the professor.  E-mail can be sent using the web pages at the URL listed below, or directly to:

blilient@ccsf.org

Be sure to include the class name in the ``subject" section of your E-mail message.

3-RING BINDER

It is suggested that you keep a 3-ring binder for class handouts, quizzes and observations that will be returned to you.

STUDENT PICTURES

Student pictures are requested so that the professor and other students in the class can get to know each other.  Student pictures may shared  with other students in the class and may be posted on the professor's web pages. You may supply your own picture or digital pictures will be taken in class.  Student pictures are VOLUNTARY and not required.  If  you do not wish your picture to be used or shown in class please inform the professor in writing or by E-mail.

PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR

Since we are engaged in the study of business and since success in business requires professional behavior, we (students and instructor alike) will conduct ourselves in a professional manner.

For example, we will:
-            Listen to the one person who is speaking
-            Be on time
-            Treat each other with respect and courtesy
-            Behave like a business professional
-            Be responsible for our own behavior and our own work

We will not:
Interrupt another person who is talking
            Plagiarize
            Use offensive language
            Eat in class

Please observe all rules of student conduct including those contained in the "COLLEGE RULES AND REGULATIONS" section of the CCSF Catalog
