From San Francisco:

• Muir Woods is located 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
• Take Highway 101 to the Highway 1/ Stinson Beach Exit.
• Follow the signs to Muir Woods. Roads to the park are steep and winding. Vehicles over 35 feet long are prohibited.
• Parking space is very limited and fills quickly.

Muir Woods To Muir Beach

• drive downhill on Muir Woods Road until you reach Highway 1.
• Go left a few blocks to the Pelican Inn (on the right) and the old Golden Gate Dairy barn (on the left).
• Turn right just around the Pelican Inn and drive to the end of Pacific Way, into the parking lot.

To Hawk Hill from Muir Woods Rd.

• Go back and turn right onto CA-1 South
• Turn right to stay on CA-1 South
• Take the ramp onto US-101 S
• After going through the Waldo Tunnel, take the last Sausalito exit (exit 442) to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (the signs read Golden Gate National Recreation Area/Sausalito). Be careful—it is a short exit ramp with a stop sign at the bottom. Stay to the left. Turn left at the stop sign then make an immediate right up the hill onto Conzelman Road. Stay on Conzelman Road for 1.8 miles. Park alongside the road at the top of the hill, just before the road becomes one way. Walk up the west side of Hawk Hill past the locked gate. It's just a few hundred feet to the summit.

From Hawk Hill to the Marin Headland Visitor Center (948 Fort Barry, Sausalito)

1. Head southwest on Conzelman Rd
2. Turn right toward Fort Barry
3. Turn right onto Fort Barry
4. Slight right onto Simmonds Rd
