I am so grateful to all
of my students that have given me the opportunity to be your physics
teacher.
Teaching Thoughts:
acknowledge that being open to knowing physics needs expressing
humility, trusting your [
heart ]↓, and
appreciating (especially) humor
mindful that physics is an integrative balance of intuitive
guessing, selective
reference, careful observation/measurement, logical reasoning,
mathematical computation, and playful imagination
realize that a physics model (→[ CCSF map - all locations ] ) is merely a representation of reality -- it can only
be an apparent metaphorical mapping of the actual reality
communicate your understanding of physics by telling a story
(verbal presentation) and making a map (visual presentation)
heedful that the most useful of all problem-solving techniques
within a chosen context is to identify what is unchanging (it will
cancel out for either a difference or a ratio)
observe that, like origami paperfolding, there are many
different
patterns in producing a solution to a given physics problem, and that
it is challenging to find the simplest (most beautiful) one
accept that any sincere mistake in doing physics is not
necessarily avoidable
and becomes a unique & invaluable opportunity for creative
improvement ⇔ true education requires mastering of your mistakes
appreciative that learning from my physics students complements
my teaching of them and together {learning >^.^< teaching
duality}, unify to form a more sustaining
joyful experience for all
