Maned Duck (Chenonetta jubata) 18 July 2014. Nepean Weir, Penrith , NSW, Australia

Male in foreground. Our field guides called this bird the "Australian Wood Duck" but Clements and most other authorities use "Maned Duck." The males have a narrow black "mane" on the middle of the nape. We often saw these birds grazing; they reminded me of small geese. They are in their own genus and are endemic to Australia.
