American Kestrel (Falco sparverius sparverius) 18 November 2017 at South Waverly Rd, Farmington, San Joaquin County, CA Photos © 2017 Joseph Morlan
This colorful small falcon feeds mostly on grasshoppers and crickets. They are frequently seen hovering in place keeping an eye out for a tasty morsel. The brown wings indicate she is a female and the streaked underparts indicate she is an immature. Canon PowerShot SX50 HS. |
