Bar-shouldered Dove (Geopelia humeralis humeralis) 25 July 2014. Wongaling Beach, QLD, Australia
![]() These doves were common in northern and eastern Australia where we found them in a wide variety of habitats. We usually saw them foraging on or near the ground, but this one was attracted to a water fountain in the park. Geographic variation is slight. The race G. h. inexpectata is attributed to the North End of Australia, but this race is not recognized by Clements who synonomizes it with nominate G.h. humeralis.
