Black-chinned Siskin (Spinus barbatus) 25 February 2018. Diego de Almagro Aeropuerto, Santiago, Chile.
This is the southernmost of the world's siskins. This an immature male showing trace of black cap.. Here I follow Clements, H&M, and IOC all of whom moved the New World Siskins from Carduelis to Spinus. HBW retains Carduelis but SACC places them in Sporagra instead, requiring a change to the specific epithet to barbata for gender agreement. For details on classification see SACC Proposal 488.
