Black-headed Saltator(Saltator atriceps)
23 January 2009, Rancho Naturalista, Costa Rica

Photo taken in the rain. Raindrops evident on the feeding tray.
Another common bird found throughout Central America, but shy and most
easily seen at the fruit feeders. Saltators are traditionally placed with
Cardinals and Grosbeaks, but recent research indicates that they are more
closely allied with certain tanagers, grassquits and Darwin's finches.
This is an immature. Adults have a complete black frame around the white
throat.
