Scintillant Hummingbird (Selasphorus scintilla) - nest with chick. Female feeding.
29 January 2009, Savegre Mountain Hotel, San Gerardo de Dota, Costa Rica
Here is the female feeding the chick.
I realize this is a pretty bad photo, but I post it to confirm the
identification. Notice the rufous-orange on the underside of the tail and
undertail coverts and the lack of white tips to the tail. These characters
help distinguish the Scintillant Hummingbird from the similar Volcano
Hummingbird which also occurs in the area and which is somewhat more
common.
Otherwise, same details as previous.
