Waterhouse's Leaf-nosed Bat (Macrotus waterhousii) 12 November 2015. Cayo Coco--Cueva del Jabali, Ciego de Ávila, CU

These bats are hanging from the roof of a natural cave that turns into a disco and cabaret at night. This big-eared bat in the family Phyllostomidae ranges through much of Mexico, and the Greater Antilles except Puerto Rico. Additional populations are found in Guatemala and the Bahamas. It is reportedly quite common in Cuba, but has disappeared from a number of Caribbean Islands. Canon SX50 HS
