Iceland Gull (Larus glaucoides) 7 February 2012. Fort Baker, Marin County, CA Photo © 2012 Joseph Morlan

Found by Steve Hampton, this dainty looking first cycle bird seems to be near the extreme end of the Iceland Gull spectrum. Todd Easterla felt this bird was likely L. g. kumlieni, but I'm not sure the race can be determined. The bill is at the small end of the Iceland Gull spectrum. Better photos reveal mottled tertials and base of tail. This was a distant shot taken right before the bird flushed. When it returned, it was too dark for photos.
