Bengal Monitor Lizard (Varanus bengalensis) 14 February 2016. Bharatpur--Keoladeo Ghana NP, Bharatpur County, Rajasthan, IN

Four species of Monitor Lizards are found in India. This is the most common and widespread. It also goes under the name Common Indian Monitor. The Indian Yellow Monitor (Varanus flavescens) also occurs in northern India. My understanding is that it has a shorter, blunter snout. Canon PowerShot SX50 HS
