Temminck's Stint (Calidris temminckii) 11 February 2016. Tiger Moon Resort, Sherpur, Sawaimadhopur, Rajasthan, IN

This small, drab wader is a winter visitor to India from breeding grounds in the far North. This bird in non-breeding (basic) plumage was difficult to pick out from a distance as it crept mouse-like along the edge of an open fresh-water sump. This species is named in honor of the Dutch ornithologist, Coenraad Jacob Temminck. Digiscoped with Panasonic DMC-LX5 | Nikon FieldScope III | 30XWA | hand-held (no adapter).
