Brown-headed Thrush (Turdus chrysolaus)

Brown-headed Thrush (Turdus chrysolaus)
This is a male with blackish throat and face. Females have a pale streaked throat. This species was formerly lumped with the Pale Thrush (Turdus pallidus) and both have been lumped with Izu Thrush (Turdus celaenops). Two subspecies usually recognized. This is nominate race in which the crown is the same color as the back. A larger darker race (T. c. orii) with dark crown is a rare winter visitor. Clement (2000) and Collar (2019) found the supposed differences to be inconsistent and both consider this species to be monotypic. Canon PowerShot SX60
