Meadow Bunting (Emberiza cioides)
This is a male showing the black ear-coverts which characterize the Japanese race E. c. ciopsis. Notice also the richly colored flanks. Its bill is longer and more slender than mainland races and its vocalizations are said to differ making this population a candidate for a possible future split. Canon PowerShot SX60.
