Moustached Turca (Pteroptochos megapodius megapodius)
This large sturdy member of the Tapaculo family (Rhinocryptidae) is endemic to Central Chile where it ranges through the central foothills. This appears to be a juvenile with its flanks only faintly barred. Two races are recognized. This is the larger, browner nominate race. The northern race P. m. atacamae is smaller, grayer, and is confined to an isolated population around the margins of the Atacama Desert. Canon PowerShot SX50 HS.
