![]() ![]() ![]() Note spotted wing coverts and crown. Not described until 1991 by König, this species was formerly classified as a population of Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl (G. brasilianum). It is now recognized as a separate species based on its voice and DNA. Peruvian Pygmy-Owl is polymorphic. The gray-brown morph seen here is common but the rufous morph is rare.
