This first cycle Laughing
Gull found by Adam Dudley cooperated for my Gull class today. I believe this is the 6th or 7th record for San
Mateo County depending on whether it's the same bird that was at Princeton Harbor in late January. It appeared
to be foraging on desiccated earthworms embedded in the pavement. Subspecies L. a, megalopterus recognized
by Clements/eBird, HBW, IOC & HM4 considered a junior synonym of nominate by BNA and thus invalid. Digiscoped
with Panasonic DMC-LX5 | Nikon FS 3 | 30XWA | hand-held, no adapter.
