This adult is presumably the same individual found 7 December 2018 by Judith Frumkin in nearby Spinnaker Point/Baypoint area and which has been seen regularly at Loch Lomond Marina since about late December. This denizen of southern swamps ranges well into South America at least as far as Uruguay. Its closest relatives are uncertain and in the past it was placed in the monotypic genus Florida (Baird, Palmer, Peters, AOU 1931, etc.).
