Monk Saki Monkey (Pithecia monachus)

Monk Saki Monkey (Pithecia monachus)
These small, arboreal monkeys are characterized by partly hairless faces and very long, non-prehensile tails. The face of the Monk Saki is partly bald but bearded with a hood of curly black hair covering the forehead as seen here. Their taxonomy is rather unsettled. The latest revision by Marsh (2014) allowed 16 species of Pithecia: five previously recognized, three reinstated, three elevated from subspecies level, and five newly described. Canon PowerShot SX60 HS.
