Gray Kingbird (Tyrannus dominicensis dominicensis) 28 January 2012. Boqueron, Cabo Rojo Municipality, Puerto Rico
This is a very common and conspicuous bird throughout Puerto Rico, especially in the lowlands. Often seen in the open in residential areas, frequently perching on wires. Two races are currently recognized, but differences are slight and distributions are disputed. Some populations such as those in coastal Florida are migratory. Others such as the one in Puerto Rico are sedentary. Digiscoped with Panasonic DMC-LZ5 | Nikon FieldScope III | 30XWA | hand-held (no adapter) |
