African Bare-eyed Thrush (Turdus tephronotus) - 4 July 2013. Tarangire Safari Lodge, Manyara Region, Tanzania.

This robin-like bird generated great excitement among our group. Apparently it has not been recorded this far west in Tanzania and was not expected at this locality. Its English name is shortened to Bare-eyed Thrush by the African Bird Club, IOC and several other sources. However Clements calls it African Bare-eyed Thrush presumably to help avoid confusion with Turdus nudigenis (Spectacled Thrush) of the Neotropics which is also sometimes called the Bare-eyed Thrush.
