Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis michaeli) - 8 July 2013. Ngorongoro Crater, Arusha Region, Tanzania.

At last count only 88 animals of this race remain in Tanzania. This is the only one we saw. It is critically endangered and the rarest of the three remaining races of Black Rhinoceros, all of which are being poached to near extinction. Proposals to secure their survival range from capturing existing animals and removing their horns, to lacing rhino horn potions with poison.
