Blacksmith Plover (Vanellus armatus) - 11 July 2013. Ndutu Safari Lodge, Arusha Region, Tanzania.

It gets its English name because its alarm call resembles the pounding of a blacksmith's hammer on an anvil. It is widespread throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Males and females are similar. No subspecies are recognized.
