Cape Teal (Anas capensis) - 11 July 2013. Ndutu, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Arusha Region, Tanzania.

Also sometimes called "Cape Wigeon" (e.g. Clements 1st-3rd editions) the finely speckled head is visible only at close range. Distribution in Tanzania is patchy, mostly confined to alkaline lakes in the rift valley where it is locally common. Sexes are alike.
