Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) and Lesser Flamingos (Phoenicopterus minor) - 2 July 2013. Arusha National Park, Arusha Region, Tanzania.

Two species of flamingos breed here. The Greater Flamingo (center) is larger and shows a bicolored bill.

Walking on water.

Flamingos have the longest legs of any birds in the world. Here are three Greater Flamingos in flight. They look almost like flying pencils. Flamingos are filter feeders. They use fine lamellae along the inside of their bill to filter small shrimp while pumping water through their bill using their thick fleshy tongue.
