Little Bee-eater (Merops pusillus meridionalis) - 4 July 2013. Tarangire National Park, Manyara Region, Tanzania.



This is the smallest of the world's bee-eaters. It is monogamous, keeping in pairs year-round although roosting communally. Sexes are alike. This widespread African species is divided into five races. This is M. p. meridionalis in which the there is a short blue eyebrow and a narrow blue-white line between the black chest crescent and the yellow throat.
