These long-tailed lizards were uncommon along the Grumeti River. They appeared to walk on land more easily and with more agility than the larger Nile Crocodile. Monitor Lizards are in the Varanidae family. A Three-banded Plover (Charadrius tricollaris tricollaris) is in front.
