Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus) - 14 July 2013. Grumeti River, Serengeti National Park, Mara Region, Tanzania.

This is one of the largest extant reptiles in the world. Males average about 30% larger than females and may weigh upwards of 1000 lbs. They are said to be an apex predator and have a reputation as a "man-eater" which is reportedly not entirely unjustified. Over 200 attacks on humans are claimed each year with about 60% of them fatal.
