The greenish throat stripe and blue crown patch can be hard to see. I was pleased that both show in this photo which also shows the flecks of blue within the red throat patch. This race has a longer bill, less brown on the upperparts cf. other races. It also may show a small violet patch on its wing coverts. Formerly included in the genus Nectarinia.
