Wattled Lapwing (Vanellus senegallus lateralis) - 13 July 2013. Serengeti National Park, Mara Region, Tanzania.



Sexes are generally alike, but females such as this usually lack black on the throat. This species is also known by the names African Wattled Lapwing (IOC) and Senegal Wattled Plover (H&M). This is the more widespread black-bellied subspecies V. s. lateralis.
