This is a highly variable species with many races. This individual is a member of the "Chinese White-faced" group (Dicrurus leucophaeus leucogenis/salangensis) in which the white face patch contrasts with the black forehead and the rest of the pale ash-gray coloration. The white cheeks further narrow it down to D. l. lecogenis which is a migrant and winter visitor throughout Thailand.
