Dollarbird (Eurystomus orientalis) - 16 January 2013 - Kaeng Krachan National Park, Phetchaburi, Phetchaburi Province, Thailand. Photos © 2013 Joseph Morlan

The Dollarbird is a distinctive member of the Coraciidae or Rollers. Its name apparently derives from the pale patches at the base of the primaries which show like Silver Dollars when the birds are seen in flight. Numerous subspecies have been described, but most are poorly differentiated.
