Flavescent Bulbul (Pycnonotus flavescens vividus) - 15 January 2013 - Kaeng Krachan National Park, Phetchaburi, Phetchaburi Province, Thailand. Photo © 2013 Joseph Morlan

One of our group misheard and called it the "Effervescent Bublbul," a name I liked and which stuck with all of us for the rest of the trip. Thailand birds are ascribed to the race P. f. vividus which averages more extensive yellow on the underparts sometimes extending up through the breast as seen on this individual. However, this race is only provisionally accepted by HBW with the caution that it may not be separable from nominate.
