This highly variable species ranges throughout most of the Oriental faunal region. This is L. s. longicaudatus which is confined to central and southern Thailand and which has the longest tail of any of the nine currently recognized subspecies. This race also has more extensive and deeper chestnut on the back and more extensive black on the crown and nape as seen in this image.
