Orange-headed Thrush (Geokichla citrina innotata) - 10 January 2013 - Khao Yai National Park, Thailand. Photo © 2013 Joseph Morlan

This is a male. Females are duller with an olive-brown back. This bird was attracted to an odorous effluent seeping from a campground restroom. It is a shy bird, usually foraging on the ground in shaded leaf-litter near water. The species is primarily a winter visitor to central Thailand with breeding confined to the north. Two races occur regularly. This is G. c. innotata which is more brightly colored than most of the others. The race G. c. gibsonhilli is similar but has a white wing bar.
