Pink-necked Pigeon (Treron vernans) - Male - 8 January 2013 - Suan Wachira Benchathat Park, Bangkok, Thailand Photos © 2013 Joseph Morlan

This individual posed nicely in the open but a dozen others remained hidden in the canopy, invisible until they flew. The rosy-orange eye shows well in the upper image. Robson calls this "Pink-necked Green-pigeon." OBC and the official Thailand checklist call it "Pink-necked Green Pigeon." Up to eight subspecies have been described, but all are currently considered invalid and the species considered monotypic.
