Islands
![]() This invasive land snail is native to East Africa, but it has been widely introduced to other parts of the world. They were abundant on Guadalcanal, to the extent that it was hard to avoid stepping on them in some areas. Reaching a size of almost eight inches, they are said to be a delicacy but they also reportedly carry various pathogenic parasites. Like most snails, they are hermaphrodites. Each individual has both functioning testes and ovaries. Canon PowerShot SX60. |
