This species was common on Tobago where a supposedly larger and darker endemic subspecies formerly known
as "Myiarchus tyrannulus tobagensis" used to be recognized. Now, however, this race is merged
into nominate M. t. tyrannulus. Geographic variation is complex with seven currently recognized subspecies, several
groups of which are probably full species. On this photo, taken in the rain, you can see the rusty inner webs
