Unfortunately I was never able to get an unobstructed shot of the female. The females are so different from the males, that they were originally thought to be a separate species. Both Audubon and Wilson got it wrong. A few of the females lacked the white spot at the base of the primaries leading many birders to misidentify them as other species. Canon PowerShot S3 IS 12x |
