It would seem to me as well as others who have visited the site listed below, that the Demoiselle Crane sighting in Lodi on October 8 is a zoo escapee, or exotic bird collection escapee, and not a rare, wild vagrant wanderer. Demoiselle Cranes are easily bred in captivity and are not usually associated with traversing the globe. It is my personal belief that this particular bird felt the biological urge to migrate and joined a migrating flock of Sandhill Cranes as a result. Poor thing must really be confused. . .
